James R. Garrison, age 81, died in San Antonio, TX on Friday, March 13, 2015. He died from a sudden heart attack caused by a rapid worsening of Alzheimer's disease.
Born July 30, 1933 in White Hall, IL, to Elmer and Lucille Garrison. He attended college courses focused on business from the University of Maryland while serving in Korea. Jim served proudly and honorably in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1971, attaining the rank of M/Sgt. While working at Randolph Air Force Base he met the love of his life Lus M. Garrison and they married on September 12, 1966.
After retiring from the service, he returned to Converse, TX in 1973 where he lived and started his own Air Conditioning and Heating business for the next 25 years, retiring in 1998.
Jim will be especially remembered for the pride he felt for his family, for the honest and fair manner with which he operated his business, and for his amazing ability to build, maintain, and ensure the reliability of any piece of work he did, He will also be remembered for his dedication to supporting various veterans organizations.
He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 48 years, Lus M. Garrison, their children, Lucy Younts, Georgia Cooper, Mark and wife Angelica Garrison, grandchildren Daniel, Bobby, Mark Jr, Carlota, Johnathan, great granddaughter Iris, sister Ann Ruedin, brothers Ralph Garrison, Leroy and wife Linda Garrison, Mike and wife Kathy Garrison, and numerous nephews and nieces. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Lucille Garrison, brother Lyndall, and sisters Niela and Mary.
Visitation will be held at Puente and Sons Funeral Chapel at 14315 Judson Rd. in San Antonio, TX on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 4:00pm-6:30pm followed by a service starting at 6:30pm. Burial will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
