Jenny Anne Simms

August 24, 1978 — October 19, 2021

Jenny Anne Simms, age 43, passed away October 19, 2021, in San Antonio, Texas. She is survived by her father Ronald Simms and brothers Adam and Brian. Her mother Mary preceded her in death in 2004. Jenny was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church of Alamo Heights in her youth. Jenny represented Garner MS and MacArthur HS in UIL academic contests, golf tournaments, and National Latin Conventions. She was a Summa Cum Laude graduate of MacArthur HS in 1996 and a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Texas A&M University, receiving a BA degree with a Double Major in History and Russian in the year 2000. She studied Russian Field Studies in grammar, culture, and language in the summer of 1999 at Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics, also visiting Ukraine and Austria as part of that study. She was a staff writer and photographer, composing articles published in the Texas A&M yearbook, Aggieland 2000. She was on numerous Dean’s Lists and National Honor Societies, as well as a Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation Scholar for 4 years. She traveled to Italy twice with HS students on trips led by her very beloved Latin teacher. For a short time, she worked at Fox Television in Los Angeles. Jenny was an avid reader and listener of audio books. If a book had a vampire in it, Jenny had read the book and seen the movie! She enjoyed watching golf tournaments, Spurs basketball games, mysteries, romance, science fiction, and Christmas movies on TV. Unfortunately, her adult life was dominated by a lengthy, disabling, incurable illness. Even then, Jenny remained a beloved sweetheart and inspiration to her dad as he became her primary caregiver. Beginning in 2019 and continuing every day as long as she could still talk, she told her father “I love you Dad”, and he replied “I love you, Jenny” and added, “I’m so glad we have another day to be together”, and she would say “me too”; both would smile at each other. As they developed a working routine for her care needs, Dad would say “We are a team!”, and Jenny would say, “We sure are!” From an animal shelter in 1998, Jenny adopted her beloved cat Leo, who lived with her for 18 amazing years. Jenny was blessed to have some very special friends and relatives stay in her life over the decades. Some very caring medical professionals helped her throughout many years of progressing illness. The family thanks you all!
