Jerald James Witten, beloved husband, father, friend and grandpa went to the Lord and Savior on Jan. 28, 2009
Jerry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara, sister Lucille Holman, sons Rick Witten and wife Sharon, Cleveland, Tx. Lee Witten, Jeff Witten, and wife Pam of San Antonio, daughter Carla Green and husband Allen Green of La Verina, Tx. Grandkids Caitlan, Carly, and Jordan Green, Terry Olson, Whitney and Warrin Witten, Jesse Witten and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Senda Schoenewolf and Paul Witten. Jerald was born in San Antonio and attended Edison High School, Class of 1945, and Trinity University. He served in the Naval Air Service, and earned his pilot license before he got his drivers license. Jerry enjoyed a long and celebrated career as a flight engineer with Saturn, Slick and TransAmerica Airlines. He traveled the world and loved sharing his stories with everyone. Jerry served as president of Citizens United for Lake Placid where he lived many years on the Guadalupe in Seguin, Tx. Quite the entrepreneur; Jerry had ownership in an airport, a fish farm, and a sunscreen company. He valiantly fought a 19 year battle with cancer and never gave up.
A memorial service to celebrate Jerrys life will be held Sunday, February 15, 2009 at 2:00pm at Puente and Sons Funeral Chapels New Braunfels, Tx.
