Jerry Gutierrez, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on January 24th, 2024 in San Antonio, the city where he was born on January 25th, 1955. Jerry's life was marked by love, dedication, and service. He served his country with honor and valor as a United States Marine during the Vietnam War. His military service was a testament to his courage and commitment to protecting the freedoms we hold dear.
After returning from his military service, Jerry found solace and purpose in volunteering at South San Antonio Baptist Church. Whether it was helping out with various church events or lending a helping hand to those in need, Jerry's dedication to serving others was unwavering. It was within the walls of the church that he found joy and fulfillment. But perhaps Jerry's greatest source of happiness was spending time with his wife. His love for her knew no bounds, and every day spent together was cherished beyond measure. Their bond was one of deep companionship and unbreakable devotion.
Jerry Gutierrez was preceded in death by his parents Alfredo and Luz Maria Gutierrez, along with his brothers Ruben and Manuel Gutierrez. He will forever be remembered by his loving family and close friends. He is survived by his wife Herminia Gutierrez, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Their journey together as husband and wife was a testament to their enduring love.
Jerry also leaves behind his adoring daughters: Julie Gutierrez, Veronica Mata, and Gloria Rondan and son Domingo Gutierrez. Their lives were enriched by their father's kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support. Jerry's role as a loving father will forever be ingrained in their hearts. In addition to his immediate family members, Jerry is survived by his brothers Freddie Gutierrez and Tommy Gutierrez. The bond between brothers is an unbreakable one, forged through shared experiences and unconditional love.
Furthermore, Jerry's memory lives on through his sister Diana Sandoval and sister Mary Ann Machado. Their deep connection as siblings brought solace and strength during times of joy and sorrow. Jerry Gutierrez's legacy extends to the next generation, as he is survived by his cherished grandchildren: Fabian Aguero, Andrew Aguero, Jeremy Rondan, Karina Benavides, Emilio Benavides, Kelen Benavides. Each grandchild held a special place in Jerry's heart, and he took great pride in watching them grow. Additionally, Jerry was blessed with great-grandchildren Ariel Benavidez, Skylar Aguero, Felicity Aguero, and Charolette Aguero. His love for his great-grandchildren was immeasurable, and he always found joy in their laughter and innocent presence.
Jerry Gutierrez will be remembered not only for who he was as an individual but also for the impact he made on the lives of those around him. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering love touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A visitation to honor Jerry's life will be held on February 8th, 2024 at South San Antonio Baptist Church located at 2026 West Pyron Avenue in San Antonio. The visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and conclude at 12:00 PM.
Following the visitation, a ceremony will take place at South San Antonio Baptist Church from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. This gathering will allow family and friends to share their fondest memories of Jerry's life and celebrate the impact he made on each of them.
Jerry Gutierrez will be laid to rest at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery located at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road in San Antonio. The burial ceremony will commence at 1:45 PM on February 8th, 2024.
Jerry Gutierrez's departure from this world leaves a void that cannot be filled. However, his memory will forever serve as a guiding light for those who were fortunate enough to have known him. His kindness, love, and selflessness will continue to inspire us all to live our lives with purpose and gratitude.
