In 1958, he married Sue Kitchens, and they lived in several places in Texas before settling in San Antonio. Gerald was an avid fisherman, and loved spending time as "Peepaw" with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brothers Earl, Sherman and Kenneth, his sisters Rosa Canady, Louise Fullen, Shirley Craft and Darlene Wilkins, and his grandson, John Bowie. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 17th, at 10:30 am at Cimarron Praise United Methodist Church in Converse, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Gerald's name to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.supportwounded warriorproject.org).
