Johnny H. Ricketts, Sr.

Johnny Howard Ricketts, Sr., 61, loving and devoted husband and father, went to meet our Lord and the angels early morning February 28, 2013 in San Antonio, TX. Johnny was born in Steele, MO on July 25, 1951. He enlisted in the US ARMY in 1968 and served his country in active duty in Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge. During his service he met his loving and devoted wife, Margaret, in San Antonio which became his home. He was a caring and dedicated father to their 3 children. Johnny worked for 30+ years in the trucking industry where he was known and well respected for his commitment, honesty and integrity. He enjoyed skeet shooting, golfing and horse racing. His true passion was fishing with his family in Copano Bay and along the Gulf Coast. He is survived by his ever faithful wife of 43 years, Margaret(nee-Contreras); daughter Erica and husband Keith Hays, son Johnny Jr. and wife Angela Ricketts, and daughter Allison Ricketts; sister Virginia and husband Phil Minks; sisters Shirley Hood, Mary Heise, Linda Story, Glenda Smith, Brenda Rounds, Georgette Bernhardt; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, associates, and the family pets who were truly a joy in his life. He is preceded in death by parents Aubrey Howard and Mildred Thelma (nee-Reynolds) Ricketts; sister Sherry Hines and brother Millard Story. Visitation will be 4-8 pm Wed, March 6 at Puente Sons Funeral Chapels-NE 14315 Judson Rd. San Antonio TX 78233. Serving as pall bearers will be Scott Cates, Art Rodriguez, Eloy Contreras, Zach Contreras, Gilbert Garibay Jr. and Steven Contreras. Reception will follow 4-6 pm at Fairfield Inn Suites, San Antonio NE/Schertz.
