Jose A. Garzes, Jr. was born July 10, 1954 and passed away in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas on October 14, 2021. He graduated from South San High School in 1973, and attended San Antonio College. Joe liked to watch the Houston Astros and he predicts that they will win the World Series. He was a good athlete and played football, basketball, but his love was baseball. He played all positions in baseball and was a good hitter in the clutch. Joe was also an avid fisherman. He was awarded the National Defense Service Metal and A Good Conduct Medal while he served in the United States Army. He is preceded in death by his father, Jose Z. Garzes, Sr.; mother, Angie Almendarez Garzes; and daughter, Stephanie Garzes. Jose is survived by his sons, Jose G. Garzes III, and Adrian Garzes; stepchildren Richard, D.J., and Celeste; good friend, and mother of his child, Marissa; brothers, Jerry A. (Mackie) Garzes and Mario (Claudia) Garzes; sisters, Irene Arriaga, Rosie (Marcelo) Casillas, Corina (Ray) Allen, and Nancy Garzes; and six grandchildren. Joe enjoyed being with his family, bar-b-que, and talking about the old days. He will be greatly missed.
