Jose Salinas Ramirez was born on April 25, 1938 in Zaragoza, Coahuila, Mexico to Pedro and Concepcion Ramirez. Jose would migrate with his father during the 1950’s, to work in the Texas ranches to help his father provide for his family, which he lived in Zaragoza. He was close to his father. Jose would go on to work throughout the country working to provide for his own family. If you sat and spoke to him he had some amazing experiences and stories to tell. During the mid-1960’s he relocated to California with his family, and eventually making the Salinas Valley his home. He worked in California as an Agriculture employee from Oxnard, CA to Salinas, CA for about 60 years. He passed away at the age of 82 on September 11, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas. He is preceded in death by his father Pedro Ramirez, mother Concepcion (Salinas) Ramirez, and brothers: Natividad (Tito) and Alejandro Ramirez, and daughter Juanita Flores Ramirez. He was happily married to his wife Purificacion Ramirez for over 61 years and together they had two boys and two daughters. Our father was a hardworking man and he lived in the Salinas Valley for many years and later retired in San Antonio, Texas. He marched by Cesar Chavez beside his brother Julio fighting for what was right for farm laborers. He enjoyed visiting his hometown in Zaragoza and visiting friends and family. His family was his priority and focus. Jose looked forward to their daily conversations and spending quality time together. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren for all their accomplishments. We will dearly miss our father and grandfather. May he rest in our God’s hands and have eternal life. Jose has five granddaughters, two grandsons and seven great grandchildren.
