Jose Angel Suarez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully in San Antonio, Texas on August 5, 2023. He was born on January 1, 1943 in Mexico to Virginio Suarez and Paula Del Toro Suarez.
Jose lived a remarkable life that was filled with love, compassion, and dedication to his family and country. As a young man, he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His bravery and commitment to serving his country were evident throughout his military service.
After his honorable discharge from the army, Jose returned to civilian life and embarked upon his journey as a loving husband. He married the love of his life, Esperanza Suarez, and they enjoyed 54 cherished years together. Theirs was a partnership built on trust, respect, and unwavering support for one another.
Jose is preceded in death by his parents Virginio and Paul Suarez; daughter Cynthia Escobedo; and 11 siblings. Jose is survived by his sons: Ernesto Suarez (Lydia) and Steven Suarez (Liz); siblings Yolanda, Hermelinda, Roy, and Israel; grandchildren Savanah Suarez, Hanna Suarez, Kohano Suarez, Trystan Suarez, Spencer Grace Suarez, Noah Suarez, Aiden Suarez, Ethan Suarez, and great grandchild Kai Suarez.
Friends and family will gather to honor Jose's memory at Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels-South in San Antonio on August 17, 2023. The visitation will begin at 4:00 PM and conclude at 8:00 PM. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 PM.
On August 18, 2023, Jose will be laid to rest at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. The burial ceremony will commence at 10:15 AM. It is a fitting resting place for a man who served his country with honor and selflessness.
Jose Angel Suarez's legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be remembered as a beacon of light, a pillar of strength, and a source of inspiration for generations to come. May he rest in eternal peace knowing he made a lasting impact on the lives of those fortunate enough to have known him.
