Joseph Reed Lewis

Joseph Reed Lewis, 45 years old of San Antonio, Texas passed away on August 17, 2023. Reed was born in Austin, Texas, on August 4, 1978, along with his twin sister Shannon, the son of Hogue Lewis and Carol Decker Stump. Raised in Burlington, Kansas, Reed
attended Burlington schools and graduated in 1996. Reed attended college at KU before being recruited to San Antonio, where he spent 6 years with Augustine and Associates, followed by an 18-year career at USAA.

Reed was a beautiful, quiet, kind and generous soul, who made his family the center of his life. An avid hunter, the love of nature was his passion, as well as spending time at the Lewis Ranch (Leaky, Texas) was his favorite place to be.

Reed is survived by; the love of his life Marcya Prunã, and her children Nicholas and Antonia. His father Hogue Wilson Lewis and stepmother Carol Davis Lewis, San Antonio. His mother Carol Decker Stump, stepfather Ronald Dennis Stump, Overland Park. His brother Hardy Wilson Lewis, (Leslie) and Liliana and Dashiel, Boerne, Texas. His sister Shannon Lewis Sullivan, (Corey) and Lukas, Chaid and Ari, Spring Hill. His sister Summer Lewis Brenner (Craig) and Ivy, June, Hazel, and Opal, Shawnee, Kansas. His sister Lucinda Stump Tippin (Rob) and Kristina and Parker, Kechi. His sister Jean Stump, Olathe. His beloved Aunt Sharyl and Uncle Philip Ruiz, Lockhart, Texas, and Uncle Gary Decker, Burlington. His Uncle Hardy Clark Lewis (Diana), Kerrville, Texas, well as his many cousins Caitlin, Adam, Sara, Levi, Lem, and Serenity and friends.

Reed was preceded in death by: his grandfather Joseph Virgil Decker, grandmother June Decker, grandmother Polly Hewitt, grandfather Wilson Lewis, grandmother Dorothy Lewis, aunt Lynne Lewis, and niece Akaila Lynne Martin.

With Reed’s passing, our lives will never be the same.

A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 P.M. Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Church of the Ascension Catholic Church, 9510 W 127th St, Overland Park, KS.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 214 Juniatta St., Burlington, KS.
