Joseph Raymond Vizzone

December 2, 1928 — November 7, 2012

Major Joseph R. (Joe) Vizzone, USAF (Retired) entered into rest on November, 7, 2012 in San Antonio, Texas. He was 83 years old, the son of Nicholas and Rose Vizzone, he enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1947. In 1956, he graduated from OCS and retired from the USAF in 1975. he and wife, Terri enjoyed two overseas assignments, one to the Philippines and the other to Spain. He served in Viet Nam in 1971-1972 and received the Bronze Star for his service there. He has received numerous awards from the USAF including the Meritorious Service Medal (with oak leaf cluster). After retirement from the Air Force, He worked for USAA for 10 years, retiring from there in 1986. He was very active in his parish of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, involved in many activities and organizations. He was a member of The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem and Msgr. Silverman Council 9291, Knights of Columbus. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Theresa, who he said that without her love and support, any successes he may have had in life would not have been accomplished. He is survived by his three sons, who he was very proud of and supportive of them, and their wives, Raymond and Margret, Anthony and Kelly, and Nicholas and Robin. He had seven grandchildren, Blake, Andrew, Jessica, Nicole, Danielle, Cole, and Casey. He always teased his sons by telling them “If he knew that having grandchildren were so much fun, he would have had them first.”

Cemetery:
2:00 P.M. with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John Neumann Catholic Church Our Lady of Fatima Garden.
