Judith Mary Haskell

July 20, 1937 — May 3, 2018

Judith Mary Haskell, 80, passed away on May 3, 2018, at her home in San Antonio, TX. She was born on July 20, 1937, in Market Weighton, England, to Joseph and Anna Blanchfield.
Judy grew up in Market Weighton, England, and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School until she was 11 years old. She was one of the first children to pass her eleven plus exam and go to St. Mary’s Grammar School in Hull. Judy’s first job was as a private secretary to Robert B. Massey, where he lent her his Rolls-Royce to use for her wedding.

Judy married Robert (Bob) Lewis Haskell, in 1957, at Everingham Church in England. Bob and Judy were happily married for 60 years and raised two wonderful sons, Kelly Robert, and Steven Jon.

As a military spouse, Judy was a devoted stay-at-home mother until the boys were of school age. She often had to quickly prepare the family to move to the next duty station. After living all over the U.S. and in England, it was San Antonio, TX, their last duty station, where they finally called home. Over the years, Judy worked as an administrative secretary in the areas of legal, insurance, and as a medical transcriber for physicians.

Judy was a devoted wife and mother, a doting grandmother and great-grandmother, a loyal big sister, and a proud aunt, and great-aunt. She never forgot a birthday and especially loved spending time with her family both in the U.S. and in England.

Preceded in death by her parents, Judy is survived by her husband, Robert Lewis Haskell, her two sons, Kelly Robert, and his wife, Brenda of Dripping Springs, TX, and Steven Jon of San Antonio, TX; two granddaughters, Stephanie Siegfried of Fairbanks, AK, and Devon Farrell and her husband, Kyle, of Kyle, TX; two grandsons, Justin Lee of Medford, OR, and Dillon Shane of San Antonio, TX; four great-grandchildren, Robert Anthony and Sophie Renee of Fairbanks, AK; Carson Allen and Jimmie Louis of Kyle, TX; two sisters Sue Wright, and her husband James, and Margaret Ilsley, and her husband, Rob, all of England; one brother-in-law, George Haskell of Idaho; nephews, Max Wright and his wife, Jayne, and Peter Ilsley, all of England; nieces, Anna Kelman and her husband, Jorge, Sophie Keogh and her husband, Sean, Sally Ilsley, all of England, and Kimberley Ilsley, and Andy of France, grand-nieces and nephews and numerous cousins and other relatives.

A mass will be held for her at Market Weighton church in England, on Thursday, May 17, 2018. Private graveside services will be held in San Antonio, TX, on Friday, May 18, 2018.
