Judy (Judith) Diana Satcher was born on October 15, 1948 in San Antonio, Texas, and she passed away on April 11, 2022 in San Antonio, Texas.
She attended Catholic elementary and junior high schools and graduated from Highlands High School. After a brief stay in Dallas, Texas after graduation, she eventually made her way to Austin, Texas, working for the State Board of Insurance during her career. Here she embraced the city’s mantra of “Keep Austin Weird,” and enjoyed all things Austin had to offer; music, food, and anything that wasn’t considered “normal” or mainstream.
Judy had a passion for music, whether listening to 50’s and 60’s songs on the 45” records in her jukebox or spending countless days and nights in Honky Tonks, like The Broken Spoke or Ginny’s Little Longhorn, to listen to live country and western tunes. Judy loved to travel herself, and eventually turned that interest into a successful business – starting out offering bus tours inside of Texas, then venturing out to longer trips across the US, and eventually taking groups internationally. When she wasn’t traveling or going out to music venues, she enjoyed visiting with her friends and family and playing in her Bunco Club.
Judy is preceded in death by her father, Charlie Satcher, and mother, Francis Satcher. She is survived and remembered by numerous cousins and an extremely long list of good friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Humane Society or the ASPCA.
