Kathryn 'Kay-Kay' Horak

Kathryn Rawlings Horak, aka Kay-Kay, died peacefully at home on Sunday, May 22, 2011, surrounded by family and dear friends. She was born in Caney, Kansas, on July 9, 1918 to Austin J. and Vista Rawlings, moving to Texas when she was a young girl. She attended school in San Antonio and Corpus Christi, graduating from Corpus Christi High School. She then married Gilbert D. Horak, who established and operated Horaks Floor Covering until approximately 1969. Her primary job in life was raising her children, thus she did not work outside of the home for too many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Corpus Christi, along with her parents, for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Charles A. Rawlings; and two sons Keith D. and Patrick C. Survivors include one sister-in-law, Nellie B. Rawlings; three daughters - Janis H. Duke (David), Dorothy H. Grayson-Morales (Ernesto), and Luanna H. Herrada; two sons David G. (Thresa) and Michael J. (Jayne); grandchildren Wendy Duke Lambright (Kevin), Christopher L. Duke (Carla), Shaunna Duke Porter (Cedric), Lauren M. Duke, J. Cooper Grayson, Rachel Mae Grayson, Keith W. Rawlings (Monica), Adam C. Herrada, Paige D. Herrada, Amy Herrada (fiance Jacob), Austin J. Herrada, Myles G. Horak, Lauren H. Percaccio (Rich), Michelle R. Horak, Donald K. Avery (Jasmine), Matthew P. Horak (Melissa), Jean V. Horak, and Clark D. Horak; 22 great-grandchildren; nieces Valerie K. Rawlings, Diana L. Thornhill (Mac), Lorraine Walter, Barbra Humphries (Daniel), Suzzette James (David); several nephews; numerous cousins; and many close, family friends.

Her family would like to thank the Neuro CCU staff at Methodist Hospital and the Vitas Hospice staff for their special care and support.

She was the best Mom, never critical or judgmental, and a very gracious woman. She will be missed by all, but is now with our Lord.
