Lawrence Stanley Kolbert, age 79, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020, in Schertz, Texas. He was born on September 4, 1941 in Northbrook, Illinois to Joseph and Marion Kolbert. Lawrence (Larry) attended Glenbrook South High School and Devry Technical School. He worked at Nuclear Chicago until mid 1967 when he transferred to Texas Nuclear and at that point he became a Texan at heart. Larry was blessed to spend his career of 42 years at TN Technologies as regional sales manager for the upper north east states. He was a volunteer at St. Pius X Catholic Church in San Antonio as a member of the St. Martins of the Fields Arboreans, the Knights of Columbus and Eucharistic ministry. He enjoyed many diversified hobbies including gardening, model airplanes, stained glass, baking, woodworking, and dutch oven cooking. Larry found his calling with the Boy Scouts as a Scoutmaster. He helped many boys become Eagle Scouts and enriched the lives of many families. He was a wonderful mentor to both boys and parents. Larry was a man of honor, great faith and a true friend. Wherever he went, he always left making someone’s day brighter with kindness and a smile.
Larry was a loving husband, father, uncle and grandfather. His family meant the world to him. He will be forever missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Marion Kolbert, daughter Valerie Pickering, brother Robert Kolbert, and sister Marcyanne Fulara. He is survived by his loving wife Janice Rae Kolbert, daughter Cheryl Kolbert, adopted daughter Joy Curbow and sister Diane Arscott of Arlington Heights, Ill., numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank you for your patience, kind words and prayers. The family will be receiving guests on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 9:30 AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church. A Rosary will begin at 10:30 AM and Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus.
