Leopoldo R. Guevara was born November 15, 1952. He was called home May 27, 2017 at the age of 64. Born in Anáhuac, Nuevo León, Mexico to his father Jorge and mother Guadalupe R. Guevara. He is the eldest of nine. Four brothers and five sisters. Known to all his friends by Leo, he traveled into Texas as a migrant worker traveling from California, New York and Florida. Leo met the love of his life in Houston, Tx in 1977. They married shortly there after and had a marriage of 39 years. He is survived by his loving wife Mary R. Guevara, two daughters Melinda G. Marrero (Joshua Marrero), Monica G. Huff (Terrell Huff) and his only son Paul Guevara. Grandchildren Idanya Marrero, Thalia M. Huff and Thomas J. Huff.
Leo will be greatly missed beyond measure by his family, his lifelong friends and church family of 20 years Templo Elim where he served as a deacon for over 10 years.
Leo was a roofer for over 30 years. He loved his work and showed his passion for it, as he did it up to his very last days. There are so many friends he made because there wasn't a place he would go and not spark up a conversation.
He had a smile all the time even when he didn't feel his best. He had a genuine heart and would help out anyone with his last dollars. He loved to play his acoustic guitar at home, his beloved blazer, the outdoors, fishing and Hawaii. Where in his last days he said that's where he would be.
There are no words to put in consideration how much Leo was loved and adored his time here on earth. His faith stood firm until his very last breaths, and we know he is in the arms of our Heavenly Father. In his own words he would say not to worry for he would be fine.
Join us to celebrate the life of a great man, husband, father and friend.
