Linda Barroso

March 16, 1952 — December 27, 2024

Pleasanton, Texas

Linda Barroso was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, friend, and mentor. She passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at the age of 72 after a courageous eight-year battle with cancer. Throughout her journey, Linda's unwavering will to live, her deep faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and supporters helped her endure countless rounds of chemotherapy. Despite facing her own illness, Linda reached out to others affected by cancer in profound ways—participating in clinical trials, sharing her experience with chemotherapy and immunotherapy, and offering comfort to fellow patients undergoing treatment.

Born on March 16, 1952, in San Antonio, TX, Linda was the daughter of Juan and Beatrice Carrasco. She was one of twelve siblings: six sisters—Mary Lou Cardenas, Alice Flores (Albert Flores), Evangelina Leyva (Hector Leyva), Elida Bishop (Louis Bishop), Ruby Salazar, and Connie Laque—and five brothers—Juan Carrasco Jr. (Stella Carrasco), Robert Carrasco Mata (Eva Mata), Ruben Carrasco, Richard Carrasco, and Ray Carrasco. She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Beatrice Carrasco, and her brother Ray Carrasco.

Linda was married for 41 years to her devoted husband, Albert Barroso. Together, they raised four children: Janel Gutierrez (Rodriguez), Albert Barroso Jr. (Angela Barroso), Ernest Rodriguez, and Sally Rodriguez. Linda also delighted in raising and spoiling her grandchildren: Jakob Flores, Isaac Rodriguez, Jaden Campos, Charles Garcia Jr., Gabriel Garcia, Keira Gutierrez, Trinity Gutierrez, and Aidrick Barroso. A woman with a true servant’s heart, she cared for her loved ones with her delicious cooking, baking, sewing, crafting, mentoring, and, of course, dancing.

Linda had an undeniable passion for dancing. She could and would dance to any song at any time, and she loved sharing the joy she found in dancing with others. Her talent carried her around the world, where she performed and won the title of World Champion five times: in 2006, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2019, alongside her husband Albert.

Although known for her exuberance and zest for life, Linda was also a quiet soul with a sweet shyness about her. Her warm smile and sense of humor were infectious, and her gentle demeanor won the hearts of many. Her gift of joy—through her constant laughter, lighthearted jokes, and nurturing love—will be cherished by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels, 14315 Judson Road, San Antonio, TX, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a Mass at 3:00 p.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 3930 FM 536, Pleasanton, TX. A luncheon reception will follow the Funeral Mass at St. Luke’s Catholic Church Hall.

The family is deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support they’ve received, particularly from Vitas Inpatient Hospice Care. Linda lived her life by the Golden Rule: Treat others as you wish to be treated. In her memory, we encourage you to carry out an act of kindness—make someone laugh, send a card, offer a hug, or say "I love you" to a special friend.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made in Linda’s name in the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
