Magda Elva Hines

Magda Elva Gonzalez Hines, 58, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away January 7, 2021. She was born September 4, 1962 to Ruben O. Gonzalez, Sr. and Elva Ramos Gonzalez in Visalia, California. Magda graduated Summa Cum Laude from Roy Miller High School in Corpus Christi, TX in 1980 and received her Bachelor of Arts from Corpus Christi State University and her Master of Education from Southwest Texas State University. She married George Lee Hines in 1993. Magda cherished her only and beloved son, Jonathan Lee Hines. Magda is survived by her parents Ruben and Elva Gonzalez, Sr.; siblings Ruben (Brigida) Gonzalez, Jr., Laura (Christopher) Balli, Eden Gonzalez, Even Gonzalez, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Magda was retired as an educator in 2017.

Knowing Magda meant big toothy smiles, gregarious greetings, and generous, warm bear hugs. She was quick witted and always ready with a joke or funny reference. She loved winning (and she won a lot) whether it was at cards, wreath making, or calculations. And never ask her for directions because the level of detail would be confusing to the average IQ … thank goodness for our map apps! We are truly lucky to have been graced by the light of her unconditional love for all of her family and friends.
