Marcel Denis Fleury Sr.

October 12, 1944 — June 25, 2020

Marcel D. Fleury, Sr. of Kirby, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home on June 25, 2020.

Marcel is preceded in death by his parents, Rita and Agnaw Fleury, and 6 siblings. He is survived by Virginia, his wife of 52 years, their sons Denny (Marlaine) Fleury, Lenny (Amanda) Fleury, Damon (Adrienne) Fleury, Tony (Megan) Fleury, and Richard Fleury, daughters, Tammy (Scott) McCarthy, and Kristin (Sam) Avitua, sisters Diane Murphy and Marie Galvin, brother Leonard Fleury, and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Marcel was born in Quebec, Canada on October 12, 1944. He served in the United States Army for 20 years and retired as a Master Sergeant. He married his wife, Virginia, in 1967 and they raised 7 beautiful children together. Marcel’s life revolved around his family. He loved to work with his children through Boy Scouts, 4H (raising rabbits), and Little League Baseball. Marcel was actively involved in his church community. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the ACTS community, and the choir. He volunteered to help with Vacation Bible School, catechism, and Meals on Wheels. He was also a eucharistic minister. Marcel was passionate about writing music, singing, and playing his guitar. His music brought joy and inspiration to many people.

Marcel was a devout follower of Jesus. His family rests easy in the knowledge that in his words, he is now “walking with Jesus”.
