It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Marcelina "Chela" Cordova Torres. She was joined by her loved ones in heaven on April 17th, 2025, and was surrounded by the love of her family during her peaceful passing at the age of 82.
Born on January 16, 1943, Marcelina lived a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was the heart of our home, always putting others before herself and creating a warm and welcoming place for all who knew her. In January of 1966, she married her beloved husband, Febronio, whom she lovingly cared for until his death on March 23rd, 2010. She spent countless days and nights caring for him even through his diagnosis with congestive heart failure. With her extraordinary care and faith in God, Febronio regained his health and lived a happy and healthy life with his lovely wife.
Marcelina was the heart of our family—a woman who lived her life with quiet strength, deep compassion, and an unwavering commitment to caring for others. She had a gift for making everyone feel at home, often expressed through her warm smile, a kind word, and the comfort of a home-cooked meal. Her kitchen was a place of love, where she nourished not only our bodies, but our souls.
She always put others before herself, never seeking recognition for the countless ways she gave of her time, energy, and heart. She taught us what it means to walk with faith, to serve with joy, and to love with your whole heart. She prayed for each of us daily, and we know those prayers still cover us now.
Her legacy lives on in the values she instilled, the traditions she passed down, and the memories we will cherish forever.
Marcelina is survived by her sons: Guillermo (Abbie) Torres and Noel Alfonso (Theresa) Torres. She is also survived by her three grandchildren who knew her as "Memo": Marcella Torres-Aldaz, Alyssa Torres-Flores, and Cameron Torres. Her family will carry her love and spirit with them always.
