Margaret D. Snyder

Margaret D. Snyder, age 92, passed away on May 4, 2017.

Born Margaret Alice Durant, January 10, 1925, in Alvin, Texas to Henry Augustus Durant and Marguerite Alline Hooper she was the oldest of their three daughters and is survived by Bettye Epperson her youngest sister. She graduated Valedictorian at Alvin High School at the age of 16 and later with honors with a BS from George Washington University in Washington, DC. Over the years she worked as a housewife, High School teacher, in the Insurance business, as a computer programmer for Aerospace Corporation and McDonald Douglas, and as an Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue Service preparing taxes. Marge loved numbers and puzzles and computer programming and preparing tax returns allowed her to demonstrate her talent in those areas professionally.

She married William Woodrow Bowden and raised three daughters. As the wife of an Air Force pilot and diplomat they lived in many locations in this country and Central America over a period of 20 years.

Later she married Wallace Staten Snyder, also a lifetime Air Force officer and they were together for 36 years. They enjoyed cooking, traveling, dancing and playing bridge and golf.
Marge was a great example to her family of a work ethic which strived for excellence and was a friend to many along her way as the wife of an officer, co-worker, and neighbor. She made us laugh, work hard, play by the rules. We will love her always.
