Maricela Yanez Thomas

Maricela Yanez passed away on October 10, 2013 at the age of 47 years. She is
survived by her loving husband, Douglas Thomas, her parents, Fortino and
Nicolosa Yanez, and many loving relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Maricela is also survived by her four brothers, Frank Yanez, David Yanez
(Roxanne) and their daughters Amber, Samantha and Audrey, Manuel Yanez and his children Alejandro and Miguel, and Jose Yanez (Liz) and their children Anthony, Brandon, Andrew and Christina.
Mari graduated from Edison High School in 1985. The next year she joined
Fisher Heck Architects and remained with the firm for the next 27 years. She advanced to the position of Business Manager and was made an Associate of the company. Mari was a dedicated member of the Society of Design Administrators and served as President of the local chapter for several terms.
Mari married the love of her life last St. Valentine’s Day, and became a mother to
Tahisha Thomas, and a grandmother to Eugene, Tarah and T’amari.
Mari was a unique person. She gave to all, she cared for everyone, she loved
her family, and she adored her nieces and nephews. A very giving person, Mari
always cared for the needs of her family, her friends, and her business clients.
She was always ready to listen and those she touched felt a special bond with
her.
To celebrate her life, a Rosary will be recited at 7PM October 17 at St. Helena’s
Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM on October 18, also at St.
Helena’s Catholic Church.
