Mary Lois Jennings Bell
Mary Bell, age 71, of Spring Branch, Texas passed away April 29, 2019 from a tragic accident. Mary was born on July 28, 1947 in Mineral Wells, Texas to Florine Tillery Jennings and Walter Jennings. She graduated from Texas Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She recently retired from her position as administrative assistant to the Chief of Police for the Bulverde Police Department to pursue travel, volunteerism, and pottery.
Mary met and fell in love with Courtland “Corky” Bell, they married on February 28, 1969. Mary is survived by her husband Corky, daughters Stephanie Bell-Turner and Elizabeth Cubberley, son-in-law Jim Cubberley, sister Edna Stone Browning, and brother-in-law Richard Bean. Her four legged “grandchildren” include six cats and three horses. Mary was preceded in death by three brothers G.H. Clanton, Uton Clanton, and Roy Clanton, sisters Eula Lewis and Dorothy Johnson, and sister-in-law Billye Bell. Mary also had many life-long friends that are considered family.
Mary had many careers over the years, including AT&T, Research and Development Associates for Military food packaging, and the Bulverde Police Department. Her hobbies included traveling, pottery, photography, visit with friends, cooking, riding horses, scuba diving, snuggling with her pets, and going to bible study. Mary was also involved in many organizations such as National Night Out, Volunteers in Police, Alamo Arabian Horse Association, as well as beginning to volunteer at many local places. She leaves behind a legacy of serving God and people that will live on in the hearts of those she knew and loved. Per Mary’s wishes, she will be cremated, and her ashes buried with her Mother and Sisters in Mount Vernon and her husband when he passes.
