Maria Elena Pena passed away on October 28, 2015 at the age of 78. She was preceded in death by her husband: Candelario D. Pena; brother: Francisco Rodriguez; sister: San Juana Turley, Inez Garcia, Ofelia Porras, and Luz Bernal; granddaughter: Mary Pena; and great-grandson: Eizaac Enrique Estrada. She is survived by her daughters: Dalia “Dee Dee” Pena, Belinda “Billie” Reyes, Adelina “Corkey” Denn; brother: Jose L. Rodriguez (Alicia); Evangelina Hernandez (Joe), Marcelina Gonzalez (Amancio), Enriqueta Paez (Julio); brother-in-law: Amador Porras; sister-in-law: Estella Rodriguez; grandchildren: Melissa Pena, Victor Pena, Jennifer Gonzales, Candice Reyes, Krissi Pena, William Anthony “Marie” Pena; 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Ms. P, as she was known at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium was responsible for feeding the “ballpark” fans. She dedicated 43 years of her life to the various minor leagues teams that eventually became the San Antonio Missions. Her and her late husband “Candy” worked side by side for many years and employed countless young high school and college students that went on to become very successful. She enjoyed hearing of their success and loved when they came back to visit with her. She was especially proud of the 5 Texas League Championship Rings she was awarded throughout the years, but she truly just loved being a part the game.
