San Antonio, TX- Matilda (Ute) Calderon, 79, died Wednesday, January 20, 2016 after a long battle with cancer, and was surrounded by her loving family.
Preceded in death by her Husband Army Veteran Guadalupe Calderon. Leaving behind her daughter Silvia Young; her son Timmy Calderon; four grandchildren Scott Hofacker, Jamie Hofacker, Jason Calderon, Jacob Calderon; and many relatives and close friends.
Born in pre-war Germany on November 30, 1936 on the eve of WWII. As a child, one of fourteen, she survived the thresholds of war going through many hardships. Caring for her younger siblings during that time, she did all she could to survive.
Meeting her beloved husband of 37 years at the USO in Nuremberg Germany then later moving to America.
She loved to travel, retired in Texas, became an avid Spurs fan, and shared many happy memories with dear friends and family.
Visitation will be from 4-8pm on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016 at Puente and Sons Funeral Chapel–NE with a Rosary at 6:30pm.
Funeral Service will be held at 10am. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016 at Saint Helena’s Catholic Church followed by burial at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:30am.
