Mattie “Rose” Clay Woodson made her transition on Wednesday, March 29, 2012 at 12:15pm. She was surrounded by her children as her soul was given up to our Lord. When Mattie and H. J. Woodson began their life together, he called her his Yellow Rose of Texas. From that moment on, she was known as Rose. And like a rose, she brought color and vibrance into the lives of those who knew and loved her. Rose shared her love and appreciation of music, art, and literature with her children as well as her love for GOD , HIS Holy Word, and HIS son Jesus Christ through whom we find salvation. Rose spent many years preaching the word of GOD, and helping others to find comfort, strength, and compassion in Christ. She encouraged others to study the bible and , through prayer, to come to their own understanding of GOD#700;s word and to cultivate a personal relationship with GOD through Christ. Rose is preceded in death by her husband H.J. Woodson, daughter Deborah Ann Woodson, mother Geraldine Clay, and siblings Vernon, William, and Lucille Clay. She is survived by her eldest son Harold Woodson and wife Sandra Woodson and their son Jason Woodson, her son Kenneth Woodson, and her daughter Christella Woodson-Reyna and husband Miguel Reyna, brother Wilson “Bo” Clay, sister-in- law Josephine Woodson, step-son Harold Jerome Woodson, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research on behalf of Mattie Woodson.
