Maxine L. Hogan, beloved mother and grandmother, went peacefully into the arms of the Lord on November 6, 2013 at the age of 89. Maxine was born on January 15, 1924 in Colome, South Dakota to Patrick and Margaret London. She was the 10th of 12 children. She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers and 3 sisters and her first born, Patrick. She is survived by her sister Virginia (Danny) Greek , her four children, son Bill (Elaine) and daughter Patricia Hogan both of San Antonio, daughter Mary Hogan of Decatur, Illinois and daughter Julie Shea of Andover, Kansas; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Kyle) Etter, Nicole Hogan, Kaitlin and Michael Shea and two great-grandchildren.
After raising her family in Decatur, Illinois, Maxine moved to San Antonio and then to Wichita, Kansas to be close to her grandchildren. She was a very special person and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Regent Care on Blanco for the care, love and affection they showed towards her.
On Tuesday, November 12, 2013, we will celebrate Maxine’s life with a rosary (10:30am) and mass at St. Mark’s Catholic Church on Thousand Oaks in San Antonio, beginning at 11:00am in the Day Chapel. Interment will follow at a later date at Gracelawn Cemetery in Decatur, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
