Michael A. Hettler, Jr.

Michael Anthony Hettler Jr, was born April 5, 1957 to Mike and Diamantina Hettler. He succumbed to complications of Parkinson’s disease and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 5, 2018 at the age of 61. He is survived by his wife Marie of 42 years; sons, Michael A. Hettler III (Heidi), and Matthew Hettler; four loving grandchildren. Michael A. Hettler IV, Damen Hettler, Donovan Hettler, and Darian Hettler; numerous cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and other relatives. Michael was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family. His favorite pastimes were family vacations, lake fishing, watching Spurs basketball, and attending concerts. In past years he enjoyed working with his hands and taking on building projects at home; he once rehabbed the family’s entire kitchen (cabinets, countertops, flooring, etc), he built a significantly large backyard deck, and a retaining rock wall for gardening. When it came to sales, the old adage, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” was Michael’s favorite; he could sell anything to anyone. For many years he was the Sales Manager for various businesses around town. Over the years he was presented with various achievement awards for his work in sales and service. For several years before he retired due to illness, he transported special needs children to various schools within the Northside School District. This was a job he particularly enjoyed, as it gave him a sense of pride to be able to help those in need. Through his hard work and dedication he instilled great values in his sons and grandchildren. His advice to them about the value of education did not go unheard, as he was extremely proud when both his sons pursued their education and went on to earn a masters degree. Michael will be truly missed but not forgotten.
