Staff Sergeant Michael “Adam” Emory, loving father of three, passed away in his home on Saturday, November 23, 2019. A decorated Soldier, Michael honorably served 11 years in the United States Army 1” Infantry Division where he earned a Purple Heart, a Meritourious Service Medal, and numerous other commendations for his meritorious service. Michael was born in Bristol, VA on April 5, 1976 and spent his post-military life in Texas. Michael loved skydiving, tuning up cars, working out at the gym, studying finance, and most importantly, spending time with his children. He was also an avid Jiu Jitsu practitioner and earned the rank of Blue Belt, although his professor said Michael was their “secret Purple Belt”. His kindness and charm were only surpassed by the size of his heart. He is preceded in death by his mother Kathy Burns Meredith. Michael will forever be loved by those of us who are left behind. He is survived by his two sons Austin and Brandon, his daughter, Lea, his former wife Maria “Lucy” Villa, his father Bobby Emory, and his brothers Wayne Emory and Chuck Burns. He will also be missed by his military brothers and sisters, and the bonds he shared with those on the Jiu Jitsu mats. We will all miss the joy that Michael brought into our lives.
