Michael W. Rhoades answered the call to be with the Lord on March 25,2022. He was born in Hobart, OK on November 28,1940 to Elmer Lloyd Rhoades and Emma (Sanders) Zarate. Most of his adult years were spent in San Antonio where he was an educator with Harlandale Independent School District for 25 years. Michael loved teaching and helped mold young generations to become successful leaders and adults. Among his many talents, he was a very gifted musician who played the piano and accordion. He was self-taught and did not read music but played solely by ear. Michael continued to play gigs for numerous organizations until the time of his death. He was also a world traveler who took 4-6 week trips every summer to countries around the world. His favorite was to Israel where he visited the Holy Land in Jerusalem. In addition to his music gigs, he also presented slide shows to numerous groups highlighting his travels. He was member of Believers Baptist Church for over 30 years.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Lloyd Rhoades and Emma (Sanders) Zarate, step mother, Mary Rhoades and his brother Patrick Lloyd Rhoades. He is survived by his nieces, Juli Weber (Paul), Patti Nelson (Randy), his nephew, Marc Rhoades and his sisters Janice Bailey (Randy) and Cathy Fulton, and sister-in-law, Sally Rhoades. He is also survived by numerous great and great great nieces and nephews. He was known to mostly everyone as “Uncle Mike”.
