Miguel "Mikey" Gaona Sr passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 28,2023 at the age of 71. A native son of San Antonio, Texas born on July 30, 1952 to Mr. Fidel Gaona Sr. and Mrs. Angelita P. Gaona. He attended Luther Burbank High School before enlisting in the Marine Corps where he was honorably discharged. Upon his return home he found employment at a local
hotel in the banquet service department where he excelled in all related duties. He was very well liked by his superiors and was quickly promoted with transfers to California, Arizona and lastly St. Louis, Missouri where he lived until his death.
Miguel was common law married to Josie Falcon and welcomed one son, Michael Falcon. His second common law marriage to Rosemary H. Gaona welcomed two stepson's Pete and Frank Sanchez as well as his youngest son, Miguel Gaona Jr. His third common law marriage to Margarita Soto welcomed three stepdaughters, Olga Ortiz-Soto, Sugen Soto and Manuela Varela-Soto.
Miguel was a vibrant socially inclined person. He made everyone that crossed his path feel like an old friend. He always made sure his family knew they were loved by him. "Hey, who loves you?" was his signature quote.
Miguel was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Juan, Santiago, Thomas and Fidel Jr. His second wife, Rosemary, his stepson's Pete and Frank, third wife Margarita and infant grandson Angelo. He is survived by his two sons, three stepdaughters, 24 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, three sisters, four brothers, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be missed by many but not forgotten. He lives in the hearts and memories of everyone he knew.
Funeral services will be held on January 14, 2024 at Puente and Son's Funeral Home from 4pm - 8pm to include a Rosary at 7pm following with the internment service on January 15, 2024 at Ft. Sam Cemetery at 9am.
