Mira Tatum Owens was born to Charlie and Bertha Tatum Sr. on December 23, 1944 in Columbus, Texas. Mira received Christ at an early age. She graduated from Columbus Colored High School. Mira was in the High School Band where she played the piano, trumpet and clarinet.
Mira attended St. Philip’s College 1962-1964. She then attended San Antonio School of Vocational Nursing 1968-1969 where she graduated as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).
She was a very Dedicated LVN for 43 years. She was one of the first Black LVN’s at Baptist Memorial Hospital, she also worked at Brooke Army Medical Center. Mira received several Awards and Accolades for her service: Manor Healthcare Corp., Insta Care Pharmacy Services. She was the business owner of Tatum Arms Home Care Services for 14 years. She worked at Kirby Adult Daycare for over 20 years. Her nursing career span through various Hospitals, Nursing Facilities and Private Duty Home Health Care. She was employed as a Charge Nurse.
Mira married William Harold Monroe Jr. and to this union they were blessed with one daughter, Ja Lynn Monroe. Later she married Willie Lee Owens until his death.
Mira is preceded in death by: Willie Lee Owens (Husband): Charlie Tatum Sr. (Father), Bertha Tatum (Mother), Sisters and Brothers: Maudester, Marjorie, Gloria, Charlie Jr., Maxclee, Irene, Alberta; Niece and Nephew: Portia Tatum and Pastor Dr. Artis Glass Jr.
Mira Leaves to cherish her precious memories: Ja Lynn Monroe Lee (Daughter), Oscar William Lee, Sr. (Grandson), Great-grandchildren: Saniyah Jo Lynn Lee, Oscar William Lee, Jr., Baby Major Arriving April 2022; Nieces and Nephew: Cherries Britt, Michael Glass, Dr. Virginia G. Berry (Pharisse), Cynthia Stevenson (Reginald), Jack, Felicia, Maxclee Jr., Charlotte, Charlie, Broderick, Mark, Keith, Chuck, Great-Nieces and Nephews: Stacy Anderson, Tonya McFarland, Joseph Britt III, Bruce Moody II, Pharisse Berry, Jr., Jennifer Barnett, Chandra Barnett, Charisse Berry and a host of extended Family and Friends.
