Myrna Jo Devore

Myrna Jo Devore, a cherished member of her community, was born on November 26, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas, to Floyd Holland and Hazel Samples Holland. She captivated all who knew her with her loving, kind, and warm nature, which radiated from her like sunshine on a bright day. Sadly, she passed away on April 6, 2025, in Live Oak, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and care that will be fondly remembered by many.

Myrna dedicated 30 years of her life to the noble profession of nursing, serving as a registered nurse at Downtown Baptist Hospital. Her dedication to her patients and her gentle bedside manner not only healed ailments but also uplifted spirits, making a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to receive her care. She found joy in helping others and took great pride in her work, often sharing stories of the lives she touched over the years.

Myrna was an active member of Community Bible Church, where she found strength and camaraderie in her faith and fellowship with others. Additionally, she enjoyed the delightful company of her friends in the Red Hat Society, where laughter and friendship flourished. Her vibrant spirit and zest for life were infectious, drawing people together and fostering lasting connections.

Myrna is preceded in passing by her parents, Floyd and Hazel Holland, and brothers, Ronald and Richard Holland.

She is survived by her loving husband, Raymond B. Devore Jr., whom she married July 28, 2001, her daughter Melissa (Justin) Wilmurth of San Antonio, her niece Andrea Dieterich, and two grandnieces of Waco, and her cat Mischief. 

Myrna Jo Devore will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts and memories of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life serves as a testament to the power of love and kindness, principles she embodied throughout her life.
