Pedro Sifuentes Martinez, born on September 19, 1938 in Caro, Michigan, passed from this life on May 12, 2024, at the age of 85. In Heaven to greet him are his wife, Rachel F. Martinez; parents, Refugio and Juanita Martinez; and siblings, Juan, Jose, Richard, Jesse, Angie, Leonor, Josefina, and Beatrice. Pedro is survived by his children, Francisco Martinez, Pedro Martinez Jr. (Carol), Roger Martinez, and Monica (Scott) Laleman; grandchildren Rebecca, Claudia, Matthew, Victoria, Rachel, Emily, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pedro was raised on the west side of San Antonio and attended Lanier High School for one year before dropping out to enter the workforce to help support his family. One of Pedro's proudest accomplishments was being drafted into the United States Army under President John F. Kennedy in 1961, serving honorably for 6 years. Pedro married the love of his life, Rachel, in 1968. They were married for 36 years until her passing in 2004. Pedro worked for H-E-B in the Produce and Frozen Food warehouse for 42 years, retiring in 2000.
His retirement marked a new chapter in life. He spent his newfound time watching his grandchildren grow. He would attend their sports games, celebrations, and graduations. He remained active in the Edison High School sports community long after his children graduated. You could also see him regularly having breakfast with friends at local restaurants, typically enjoying a bean taco and several cups of coffee. Every so often, he would purchase lotto tickets for the thrill of it and was known for his annual Super Bowl football pots. Even so, he was never a materialistic man, always opting for experience and being in the moment. Throughout his life, he could only be described as a strong, proud man who loved those around him profusely. His presence in a room was always felt and will truly be missed by those who knew him.
Even though he is no longer on this Earth, his memory will be carried on in the hearts of each of his children and grandchildren. The countless memories of him will be cherished and relished for the rest of their lives and so on, as he is not one to be forgotten.
