Randy Edward Sokolowski, age 51, went to Heaven on Monday, March 07, 2011 after a brave 3 year battle with cancer. Randy was born in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and grew up in San Antonio, Texas. He had many friends and was very interested in Photography in high school and he fell in love on the river banks of the Comal with Diane Flory in 1978. They married in 1980 and moved to Japan where Randy was stationed in the Air Force. One year later, they had a beautiful baby boy, Christopher Randy. After serving 20 years in the military, Randy and his family moved back home to San Antonio. He enjoyed gardening, barbequing, fishing, the Dallas Cowboys and most importantly spending time with his family. Randy was known as Laughing Boy by some, Play Boy by many, Husband to one and Father to one. Randy is survived by his wife, Diane, son, Christopher and his wife Haley, Mom, Beverly and sister, Cindy and her husband Alan K. Wood.
Gabe Quintanilla, a family friend of Randys said this Randy is the first one among us to make this journey--much in keeping with his history of going first to make sure the journey is fine for the rest of his troops.
Special thanks to Willford Hall, Dr. Benjamin George, the nursing staff and Vitas Hospice Care for all their thoughtfulness and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be sent to MD Anderson Cancer Center. https://www3.mdanderson.org/devoffice/
