Lt. Col. Stanley L. James Jr. passed away on Dec. 16, 2009. Jim as he liked to be called was born October 18, 1917 in Manila P.I., the youngest child of Col S.L. James and Imogene (Welch) James. He graduated from West Point Military Academy January 1943. He served in Europe during WWII, assigned to the Signal Corps, serving with the 5th Army. After the war he returned toattend the University of Illinois, he waslaterassignedto afour year tourwith the Trieste Trust Signal Corp in Trieste, Italy. Returning stateside he was assigned as a military instructor at Texas A M. while still in College Stationhe was thensent to serve inthe Korean War. His next tour of duty was at Arlington Hall Stationin Virginia where he was with the Army Security Agency. His next two assignments were at Ft Shafter, Hawaii and lastly Fort Richie Maryland. He then retired after 22 years and moved to San Antonio. He starteda newcareer as a mathematics teacher at Washington Irving Elementary School and taught for 10 years. He enjoyed HAM radio and was a master HAM radio operator and was involved in the MARS network, his other hobbies included repairing and rebuilding old clocks. He had a number of old sports cars over the years that he enjoyed driving. He loved animals andenjoyedbird watching. He was married to Bernice Robinette (Robin) for 50 years. He was the father tofour daughters, Robin Diane James, Pamela James Runyon, Nancy Gail James and Lesley Lynn King. He is survived by 9 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice, and daughters Nancy and Lesley.

He will be rememberedwithfull military honors at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery on Wednesday, December 30th at 1:00 PM.
