Rev. Lt. Col. John Michael Wagener, Phd

Reverend Retired Lt. Col. John Michael Wagener, PhD. went to be with the Lord on his 54th anniversary of his ordination as a priest on February 25, 2015 at the age of 79. He is preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Lillian Wagener and brother, Terry. He is survived by his brother, Dennis; sisters, Rosie, Rita and Barbara. He graduated from Glencoe High School and then entered Nazareth Hall Preparatory Seminary in 1953. He served at parishes in Olivia, Winsted and Vesta, MN until 1967, at which time he enlisted as a chaplain in the U.S. Airforce. In 1981, Father John transferred to the U.S. Army and served in a number of assignments throughout the world. He retired from military service in 1988. He received a PhD in Human Development/Family Studies from Texas Tech University on August 15, 1997. In an active retirement Father John has served many parishes and military bases in the San Antonio area and will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers family has requested that donations be made to Our Lady of Grace Church or the charity of your choice.
