Reymundo G. Villanueva was born January 6, 1949, and went to Heaven June 3, 2022. He grew up in San Antonio and attended Fox Tech High School. While in school he participated in football, welding, and was a Golden Glove boxer.
Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the United States Army. He trained at Ft. Benning Georgia considered the Army’s premier training center for Army Infantry, Airborne and Ranger training. He proudly served his country as a member of 1st Calvary during the Vietnam conflict and was awarded various medals for valor and heroism.
Upon fulfilling his commitment to the Army he returned home to San Antonio, reuniting with his family. He held various jobs including RC Cola, Lone Star Brewery, and the Audie Murphy VA Hospital.
Rey enjoyed watching sports such as football, boxing, basketball, and fishing with his brothers and parents.
He was preceded in death by both his parents Antonio and Victoria G. Villanueva. He is survived by his siblings Estela Perez, Antonio (Virginia) Villanueva, Ernesto (Mary Sue) Villanueva, Enrique (Annie) Villanueva, Sylvia (Santos) Saucedo, Stepson Robert M. Gonzalez, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff on the 5th floor ICU at Audie Murphy VA Hospital for their care of Rey.
Interment service will be held on July 5, 2022 at 9:00 AM at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery Shelter #1
