Ricardo Escalante passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019. Ricardo was born to Alejandro Escalante and Eloisa R. Garcia on April 29, 1964 in San Juan, Texas. Pablo Garcia, his step-father, whom he loved and was the inspiration to his trucking career as he was a truck driver himself. Ricardo graduated from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School in 1983. He was in the trucking business for 40 years in addition to being a long-haul driving trainer as well as a dispatcher.
His motto was, “Truckers are the back-bone of America. All can be drivers, few can be truckers.” He has driven coast to coast and has visited every state in our country and was an example of what true American patriotism is. He has experienced the beauty of the highways and was a Texan at heart. He loved his alma mater, PSJA Bears, that he took extreme pride keeping in contact with his Class of ’83 classmates, the UT Longhorns and his favorite the Dallas Cowboys. He is a graduate of South Texas College and received his Associate Degree in 2011. He believed in enforcing education in all aspects of life. He was a born-again Christian and was baptized. He was a long member of The Family Church in McAllen, Texas.
He is survived by his loving wife, Corina Eloisa Escalante, his two beautiful daughters, Audrey Nicole age 29 and Victoria Brooke age 22. His wife and daughters were the center of his world and worked until his last breath. He had 10 brothers, Guadalupe, Fidencio, Paul, Ricardo, John, Manuel, Martin, Rolando, Rene and Roberto. He had 2 sisters, Sara Galindo and Sandra Zepeda.
He was loved by many with numerous nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by his parents, Alejandro Escalante, Eloisa and Pablo Garcia, brothers Paul, Manuel and Rene Garcia.
Down all the highways that I traveled, black top, stone and even gravel. On every journey through and through, God’s Angels guided me to my final mile.
