Richard J. Link

USAF SSgt. and Retired Bexar County Deputy Sheriff, Richard Jerome Link of San Antonio, Texas entered into eternal rest on Friday, April 29, 2016 at the age of 70 years. Richard began working at the age of 10 years while growing up in upstate New York for local farmers who lived near his parents. He continued farm work until he was 19 years old. He last worked for his brother-in-law, Harold Chambers. At the age of 19 years old, Mr. Link joined the U.S. Air Force where he proudly worked as a security policeman guarding aircrafts. He was stationed at Merced AFB in California, Andersen AFB in Yigo, Guam, Blythville AFB in Arkansas, and was last assigned to Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. After leaving the US Air Force in November 1972 he was hired by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Department. Mr. Link worked for the Bexar County Sheriff’s Department for a total of 34 years faithfully servicing the Bexar County Community until he retired in October 2006. Mr. Link was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Edna Chase Link; his sister, Gloria Robinson; and brothers, Paul and David Link. Mr. Link is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Rose Link; sons, Jon (Cindy) Ochoa and Brian (Gabby) Link; daughters, Jacqueline R. Veal, Claudia J. (Daniel Washington) Link and Deanna L. Thomas; sisters, Eleanor (Harold) Chambers, Mary (Chuck) Ames, and Theresa (Larry) Crow; brother, Bernard (Nikki) Link; sister-in-law, Pat Link; his beloved 19 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; also a host of other relatives and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
