Richard N. Natalicchio

September 1, 1933 — September 30, 2024

Richard Nicholas Natalicchio was born September 1, 1933, to Amerigo Vito Natalicchio and Pauline Rizzo-Natalicchio in Jersey City, NJ. Due to complications from pneumonia, he departed this world on Monday, September 30, 2024, surrounded by his wife and children.

Above anything else, Richard will be remembered as a people person. People were drawn instantly to him by his own brand of charisma and charm. People he encountered throughout his life were not just a name and face to Richard but a cherished life and story. He valued each of those lives and stories equally, none above any other.

As for his own life and story, it began in New Jersey in 1933 where he was born. In his early  childhood, he and his family moved to Staten Island, NY, and made it the family home. As any other New Yorker, he was proud to be a New Yorker and loved anything that was New York especially his beloved New York Yankees. Growing up in Staten Island, he attended St Margaret Mary’s Elementary school and graduated from St Peter’s Catholic High School. After completing studies at St Joseph’s Major Seminary at Dunwoodie in Yonkers, NY, Richard was ordained as a Catholic Priest on May 31, 1958, at St Patrick’s Cathedral.

It was in New York, that he met his first wife, Colleen Calmbach. They were married in New York and then had their first child, before moving to Colleen's home of San Antonio, TX where they completed their family of four children over the next five years. During this time, Richard found a passion for sales in the automobile industry. Selling allowed him to encounter so many others and learn their stories. For Richard it was never about the sale, but about the person.

In 1988 he met Catherine Hussey, and they were married in San Antonio in 1990. Together with Kitty, he enjoyed 34 years of traveling, laughing, loving, and experiencing all the joys of life down to the simplest things. They moved to the The Village at Incarnate Word in 2022 where they had been active volunteers for years. Richard and Kitty have loved their home and neighbors at The Village ever since. Richard took an active role in the community church and the community events. They were loved by their friends and neighbors as much as they loved their friends and neighbors.

He is preceded in death by his parents Amerigo and Pauline, and his brother, Bobby.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine; Brother, Donald; Daughters Patrice Powell and husband Cayce, Dawn Hutcherson and husband Barry; Sons Ricky Calmbach and wife Courtney and Tony Natalicchio; four granddaughters, five grandsons, and one great granddaughter. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The memorial mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday October 5, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Chapel at The Village at Incarnate Word. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please send donations to The Village at Incarnate Word.
