Robert A. Peterson

Robert “Pete” Archard Peterson, 86, of San Antonio, Texas passed into Eternal Life on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Northeast Baptist Hospital, San Antonio.

Robert was born on October 2, 1934 in Elkhart, Indiana to Norman C Peterson and Lorain S (Pettit) Peterson. Robert married Martha (Calleja) Peterson on Oct. 27, 1992. He is preceded in death by his sister Bessie N Parmer, brother John C Peterson and daughter in law Patricia L (Bane) Peterson.

Pete is survived by his wife, Martha of San Antonio; children Robert L Peterson, Brenda (James) Shank, both of Elkhart IN and James N Peterson of Trenton IL; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Joshua, Peter, Jaime, Michael and Maggie: 8 great-grandchildren. Many cousins’, nieces and nephews.

Pete was a 1952 graduate of Elkhart Central High School, where was captain of his basketball team. He attended the University of South Carolina on a basketball scholarship.

Pete honorably served his country in the US Army, and retired from the City of Elkhart’s Fire Department as a Captain. Upon retirement he moved to San Antonio Texas, where he enjoyed playing golf for many years.

He will be remembered for his sense of humor, he always had a joke up his sleeve, a colorful story to tell or a prank to play. He loved traveling and exploring new places.

He was a faithful giver to missions, around the world, he wanted to do his part in spreading the Gospel of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He is in the care of Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels, San Antonio, where cremation
will take place, services will be at a later date.
