Robert Clarke, known as Kutch to family and friends, passed Saturday, May 28th. He was born April 29, 1933 in Mercedes, TX to Leon and Ollie Mae Clarke. He married the love of his life, Faye Weyel, in 1962. They moved to New Braunfels and had one daughter, Andrea.
He is survived by his wife Faye; daughter Andrea and husband Bob Suarez of Plano; two grandchildren, John and Christopher; sisters, Sidney Dugan and Joyce Adams and brother, Ken Clarke. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Ollie Mae and sister, Helen Crenshaw.
Following high school, Kutch entered the army and was stationed in Italy. After his tour of duty he attended Pan American University where he met Faye who was a fellow biology major. He then spent 32 years as a committed educator, having first taught science and then becoming a counselor guiding youth in their life decisions. His further commitment to education was fulfilled by being elected to two terms on the New Braunfels School Board.
Many who knew him closely were aware of his creative, architectural abilities, having spent his life designing and building a beautiful home on the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels where they have resided for almost 50 years. In addition, he took joy in creating many other artistic endeavors.
A Memorial Service and Celebration will be held on Saturday, June 4th at 10:30am at the Clarke Residence. Please join us in remembrance of this vibrant human being, a man who lived his life to the fullest, enjoying the beauties of life and nature. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association, SAMMinistries or a charity of your choice.
