Robert Harold Galloway, born August 30, 1927, passed peacefully December 16, 2016 to meet his Lord and Savior at the age of 89.
Robert was born and raised in New York before enlisting in the military to see the world. At the young age of 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served in Germany during the Berlin Air lift and was awarded the World War 2 Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. He then enlisted in the Army and was stationed at Ft. Monmouth New Jersey where he taught radar. Robert proudly served in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star medal.
After retiring from the military he moved his family to San Antonio, Texas and earned an Associate degree from San Antonio College. This is where he began his 25 years of service with the United States Post Office.
He had a love of sports that he passed along to his children. He was active in golf, bowling and soft ball. Robert won many bowling awards and gave a command performance in Iran for the Shah. While stationed in Virginia he was on the Washington DC circuit bowling team.
Robert will be greatly missed. He is survived by his 3 children, Kimberlee Crawford, Glenn G. Galloway and his wife Jeannie J. Scott, Sandra Lynn Galloway, 3 granddaughters and 2 great granddaughters, his brother Dennis Galloway and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas on January 6, 2017 at 10 a.m. for close friends and family.
