Robert Perez Sr.

Robert Perez Sr., born on January 6, 1959, in San Antonio, Texas, embarked on his journey through life with a strong spirit, determination, and an unwavering commitment to family. He was a man of many talents who wore many hats throughout his life. In his youth, he made his mark as a professional boxer, displaying tenacity that would carry him through his varied careers in carpentry, construction, and horticulture. His hands crafted not just structures, but also memories that will be cherished forever.

Robert passed away peacefully on September 17, 2024, in the city he loved, San Antonio. He will be remembered not only for his robust personality and his will to face challenges head-on, but equally for the generosity that defined his character. Known for his kindness, Robert would give you the coat off his back, a testament to the loving spirit he shared with the world around him.

Family was the cornerstone of Robert's life; he treasured every moment spent with those closest to him. Among those left to cherish his memory are his beloved son, Robert Perez Jr.; his siblings, Mingo Perez, Mando Perez, Christine Flores, Frank Martinez, Pauline Lueb, and George Martinez; and the joy of his life, grandson Robert Perez III. The bonds formed with this loving family will serve as a lasting legacy of Robert's heartfelt connection to each one of them.

Robert’s legacy also encompasses dear parents Isabelle Martinez and Domingo Perez; siblings who have passed, including Linda Gil, Rachel Martinez, Irene Perez, and Roger Martinez. Their memories are interwoven with Robert’s life story, adding depth to the love he shared with those who remain. Notably, Robert had a strong connection with his mother, supporting her and offering his undying loyalty until the end. 

In addition to his family ties, Robert found joy in hobbies that enriched his life. He had a passion for working on cars, an enthusiasm for watching boxing matches, and a love for Old Western movies, which brought laughter and camaraderie to gatherings with family and friends. Each of these interests showcased the multifaceted man he was, always engaging and relatable.

Robert Perez Sr. was a steadfast man whose legacy is firmly rooted in the hearts of his family, community, and friends. He will be profoundly missed, yet his spirit will continue to live on in the memories and stories shared by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
