Roberto Martinez Amaro

June 7, 1944 — January 11, 2025

Roberto Martinez Amaro, born on June 7, 1944, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, passed away on January 11, 2025, in Spring Branch, Texas.

He was a man characterized by his happy-go-lucky demeanor, he often worked against social norms, which were deemed to be both a blessing and a curse. He was a good storyteller, he loved a good game of pool, and considered himself a shark. He had a big taste for his era’s music. On Sunday mornings he would blast Nat King Cole, Gold Platters, or any Pedro Infante records as a wake-up call, we knew it was time to get up and get ready for church.

A very smart man, Roberto was a big reader who knew everything about world politics and current affairs. He was fluent in English and Spanish. He studied accounting and found pride in being a numbers man. Though he only used this schooling in his uncle's grocery store, he would not be confined to desk work as an accountant. He instead used his skill and training to get him through real-life experiences.

In his youth, he traveled a lot via planes, trains, and automobiles (favorite movie) and eventually found his resting place with our mother. Who again, against social norms, married her with 7 kids! They later decided to have one more bonus child for an even number of 4 boys and 4 girls. Who in turn would also care for him until his passing.

He is survived by: Children: Refugio (Maria), Roberto, Inocencia (James), Isabel, Irene (Don), Yolanda (Tony), Enriqueta (Michael), Gabriel (Lisa). Grandchildren: Refugio Jr, Jeremy, Isaac, Bianca, Adrian, Celia, Natalia, Gabriella, Daniel, Tina, Christopher, Michael, Marissa, Taylor, William, Elizabeth. Great-grandchildren: Devon, Jeremiah, Elias, Alejandro, Tomas, Brianna, Jaylun, Ismael, Andrea, Nathaniel, Meadow, James, Mia, Antonio, Aurora, Valentino, Camila. Extended Family: He was endeared by his cousins, Maruca and Lucha.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Irene Martinez Campos; and parents, Pedro Martinez and Juana Amaro.
