Rogelio B. Montemayor

On Thursday July 16, 2020 Rogelio Montemayor, a loving husband and father of four children, passed away due to COVID-19, at the age of 85.

Rogelio was born on September 27,1934 in Alice,Texas to Guadalupe and Berta Montemayor. On February 11,1956 he married Enedina Isabel Lichtenberger. They raised two sons Rogelio Jr. (Roy) and Roberto (Bobby), and two daughters Delma and Velma.

Rogelio worked in the Auto Parts Industry from age 22 until he officially retired at the age of 75. He was a proud hard working man who in the 50+ years of working missed but 3 work days due to knee surgery. He was a talented musician and a pioneer to Conjunto music whose legacy will forever live on. He played "Bajo" in many Conjuntos for over a span of more than 60 years. He was a man who had the strength to bear all burdens on his shoulders caring more for others than he did himself, he had a heart of gold, he was kind, he was generous and loved all who knew him.

Rogelio is survived by his wife Enedina, his (4) children Roy Montemayor from Marion, Bobby (Melanie) Montemayor from Universal City, Delma (Mark) Rice from San Antonio and Velma (Robert) Hutcherson from Roanoke,Texas; his (3) brothers Rene, Rudy (Yolanda), Roel (Margie); his (8) grand children Jamin, Karissa (Alex), Daniela (Greg), Amanda (Greg), Samantha, Brandon, Kyle and Gabriella; his (15) great grand children and numerous nieces and nephews.

Due to these unprecedented times and in respect to others health and safety, services will not be held at this time. The family will announce at a later time when and where family and friends will gather for a memorial service to pay respects to their loved one.
