Roger “Bosko” Zimmerle born Mary 17, 1957 died peacefully surrounded by his family on February 26, 2015 at the age of 57 years. Some of his favorite pastimes were cheering for the Spurs, watching NFL football games, feeding and watching birds in his backyard, and spending time with his family and friends sharing his amazing sense of humor. Roger is survived by his wife of 35 years, Debbi Robinson Zimmerle, their sons, Alex, Aaron and his wife Christine, and one amazing grandson, Marcus, son of Aaron and Christine.
He was born in San Antonio, Texas at Lackland Air Force Base. His family was stationed in Alaska, Abilene, Texas, and then San Antonio where they retired living in the Valley-Hi neighborhood. He attended Lackland City Elementary, Sam Rayburn Middle School and Jay High School. After graduating from High School, he attended an Electronic Trade School sponsored by the City of Antonio, where he learned basic electronics that he would use the rest of his life.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1977, and was medically discharged before complete his military training. He worked at Montgomery Wards where he learned what was then the new field of Microwave Oven repair. He attained knowledge to also repair air conditioners and other small electronics such as TVs, stereos and VCRs. He worked in the field of mobile phones when it was just starting. He worked in refrigeration parts supply, and then Lack’s Furniture Company as the parts manager for their major Appliances and Electronics.
After the birth of their second son Alex in 1990, he became a stay at home dad, where he completely enjoyed his new and permanent job. In 2010, he received the best promotion to caregiver to their grandson, Marcus.
Roger believed in sharing and giving to others so in lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in his name to any of the following: The American Cancer Society, The American Lung Association, The Diabetes Association or the Bexar County Human Society.
