Ronald Eugene Hoch

Ronald Eugene Hoch, Captain, USAF, retired, 86, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on February 25, 2020 at Northeast Methodist Hospital surrounded by family.
Ron, also known as Ronnie or Bop, was born in Harrisburg , Pennsylvania. on June 6, 1933 to Marshal Vincent “Amos” Hoch of Pottsville, Pa. and Emma Romaine “Flapper” Shaffner Hoch of Harrisburg, Pa.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Helen Knight Albers Hoch, and his children, Robin E. Greiner, husband Donn Greiner, Marshall C. Hoch, wife Lissa Hoch, and Ronald MJ Hoch, wife Laura Hoch, grandchildren Alexander J. “AJ” Greiner, Amber L. Hoch, Andrew T. “Travis” Hoch, wife Raven Hoch, Matthew D. Hoch, wife Pamela Hoch, adopted grandson Tanner Casey Hoch, Mark H. Jimenez, Jr. and Trevor Casey. His 5 great-grandsons are Mark A. Jimenez, Zachary E. Jimenez, Damien A. Jimenez, Miles X. Hoch, and Tyrion J. Hoch. He is also survived by his younger sister, Judith “Judy” Jenkins, husband Melvin Jenkins and many in-laws, nephews, nieces and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Ann Dressel Hoch, granddaughter Jessica M. Greiner Jimenez, sister Virginia “Ginnie” Finley and brother Richard “Dick” Hoch.
Ron moved with his family to Houston as a teenager and graduated from San Jacinto High School. He enlisted in the Air Force and lived in or traveled to Arizona, Saudi Arabia, Wiesbaden, Germany, Commerce, Denton, Lubbock and San Antonio, Texas. He valued education and received his Baccalaureate degree from North Texas State University. He attended Officer Training School at age 33, served in Human Resources and retired from the Air Force as a Captain in 1977 with 26 years. His second career was at USAA where he worked for 14 years in Records Management.
In retirement, he traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, Panama, Europe, Florida, West Virginia and many other locations. In his lifetime he enjoyed bowling, playing cards (Pinochle, Hand and Foot and others) and serving his community and church. He was a mentor, helper, encourager, gentleman and friend to many.
Memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or Windcrest United Methodist Church.
The family would like to thank the Drs., nurses, therapists, and staff of NE Methodist Hospital, Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital, Be Healthy at Home and Caring Hearts for their compassionate care.
