Ronald William Smith

December 8, 1943 — November 16, 2016

Ronald “Smitty” William Smith, 72, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016.

He was born in Bluffton, Indiana, on December 8, 1943 to the late William and Eunice Smith.  Ronald graduated from Arvada High School in Arvada, Colorado and shortly thereafter enlisted in the United States Army.  Ronald retired as a Master Sergeant earning several awards;  National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NCO professional Development Ribbon, Expert Qualification Badge (Rifle M-14).  Ronald enjoyed fishing, puzzles of any kind, and all things computer related.  

Those left to cherish Ronald’s memory are Hui Cha, his wife of 49 years, his two sons William L. Smith and John Y. Smith and wife Michele, his four grandchildren, Jacob Smith, Adam Smith, Christian Smith, and Samuel Smith, and Ronald’s sister, Linda Erickson.  Service for family and close friends will be Monday, November 28, 2016, at 9:30 AM, at Puente and Sons Funeral Chapel, 14315 Judson Rd., San Antonio TX, 78233. Burial will follow immediately thereafter at 1:15 PM, at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio TX, 78209.
